Muddled Mint Julep

Much like the original, this is a bourbon-based cocktail the difference is in the preparation.

  • 10 leaves Mint You can use more or less depending on your taste
  • 5 ml Symple Syrup
  • 4 oz Kentucky Bourbon
  • 2 sprigs Mint You can add more or less to your liking


  1. In a chilled julep cup add 10 mint leaves and your simple syrup (homemade simple syrup is best)

  2. Lighty muddle until you can smell the oils from the mint. And muddle it lightly okay, their just mint leaves your not unclogging a toilet. 

  3. Fill the rest of that julep cup up with crushed ice. (if you don't have a julep cup you can also substitute with a Collins, highball or old-fashioned glass)

  4. Add Bourbon AKA "loudmouth soup"

  5. Lightly stir with a bar spoon  until the cup has begun to frost and garnish with mint sprigs, then you're off to the races
